The Shelter & Soul Workshop:
An Informal Caregiver Program
At Emberline, we believe that providing care at home is a sacred act of devotion. Shelter & Soul is a heart-centered, 8-hour workshop designed specifically for family members, friends, and community hearts who wish to care for their loved ones with confidence, dignity, and grace.
A Note on Our Program: This is an informal caring support program. While it is not a professional PAB or PSA certification course, it is designed to bridge the gap between wanting to help and knowing exactly how to provide high-quality care in a home setting.
A Day of Learning and Support
This is an 8-hour, in-house course held in a warm, collaborative environment. I will be right there to guide you through the day, ensuring you feel comfortable with both the physical demands and the emotional journey of caregiving.
Shelter: The Practical Side of Care
We focus deeply on the physical "how-to" of daily care. You will gain hands-on experience in the essential skills that provide comfort and "shelter" to your loved one:
The Art of Bedside Care: Practical techniques for providing a refreshing bed bath and washing hair with a gentle touch.
Sheet Transitions: Learning how to change bed linens efficiently and safely while a loved one remains in bed.
Daily Hygiene & Dignity: Guidance on oral care and personal grooming to help your loved one feel their best.
Safe Movement: How to assist with positioning and movement to ensure safety for both you and the person you are caring for.
Soul: Your Companion Manual
To support the "Soul" of your caregiving, every participant will receive a comprehensive Caregiver Manual to keep. This is a practical guidebook you can take home and refer to whenever you need a reminder of the techniques, checklists, and emotional support strategies we practiced together.
Caring for the Caregiver
Whether you are caring for a spouse, a parent, or a friend—or you are looking to begin your journey in the helping field—this workshop ensures you don't have to walk this path alone. You will leave with the practical skills to provide shelter and the emotional resilience to nourish the soul of your home.
