Still Here: Dementia & Family Caregiver Companion Certification
At Emberline, we believe that a person living with dementia is still here, and that the families who love them deserve patience, honesty, and an unhurried kind of care. Our Still Here program is a heartfelt path for those called to stand beside a family as memory changes. This training provides the heart centered expertise needed to walk softly beside a person living with dementia and the family caring for them, ensuring that their journey is met with understanding, comfort, and a steady, supportive companion.
Choosing Your Path to Certification
I will be right there with you to offer guidance throughout your entire journey, from your first lesson through to the completion of your field work. This is a self paced online certification, open to students across Canada and the U.S. Move through the material at your own speed, with no prior training required, followed by your field work. Payment options are available.
Inside the Modules: Learning to Companion the Family Through Dementia
Our modules are designed to help you bridge the gap between practical care and human connection, focusing on the patience, understanding, and quiet presence required in every act of Still Here.
Understanding Dementia and the Person Within: Gaining a clear, compassionate understanding of how dementia unfolds, and learning to see the person who is still here behind the diagnosis.
Walking Through Every Stage: Learning what families face in the early, middle, and late stages, and how to offer steady support as needs and abilities change.
Meeting the Hard Moments: Discovering gentle, practical ways to understand sundowning, agitation, and changes in behavior, so families feel less alone when the days are difficult.
Caring for the Caregiver: Supporting families through the exhaustion, grief, and tough decisions of caregiving, including the sandwich generation and the legal and financial planning that so many families face.
Becoming a Certified Companion
Once you have completed your modules and shared your field work with me for evaluation, you will be a Certified Dementia Family Companion. You will walk away with the certifiable skills and the recognized heart to serve your community, knowing you have the foundation to ensure that on every step of the dementia journey, no family has to walk the path alone.
