The Grief and Bereavement Companion Certification Program

Tending the Light: Grief & Bereavement Companion

Certification

At Emberline, we believe that grief deserves to be met with patience, honesty, and an unhurried kind of  care. Our Tending the Light program is a sacred path for those called to be a steady light in someone's grief. This training provides the heart centered expertise needed to walk softly beside a grieving person or family, ensuring that their sorrow is met with presence, comfort, and a gentle, supportive companion.

Choosing Your Path to Certification

I will be right there with you to offer guidance throughout your entire journey—from your first lesson through to the completion of your field work. We offer two ways to begin:

A Standalone Certification: A self paced online journey through the material at your own speed, complete on its own, followed by your field work — no prior training required.

A Companion to Your Doula Training: Already walking the path with Silent Cradle or Quiet Crossing? Extend your care into the grief that follows a loss, deepening the continuity you offer the families you serve.

Inside the Modules: Learning to Companion the Grieving Heart

Our modules are designed to help you bridge the gap between practical care and human  connection, focusing on the quiet, essential presence required in every act of Tending the Light.

Understanding Grief Itself: Gaining a clear, current understanding of how grief actually unfolds, without the outdated timelines that make people feel like they're doing it wrong.

The Language of Presence: Learning how to sit with someone's pain using words, and silences, that offer support without offering advice.

The Gift of Stillness: Discovering how to provide a calm, non judgmental presence, "holding space" for the many emotions that grief can bring.

Honoring the Loss: Supporting families through the tender days that follow a death, focusing on comfort, patience, and the space to grieve in their own way.

Becoming a Certified Companion

Once you have completed your modules and shared your field work with me for evaluation, you will be a Certified Grief & Bereavement Companion. You will walk away with the certifiable skills and the recognized heart to serve your community, knowing you have the foundation to ensure that in every moment of grief, no one has to walk the path alone.
